MCCI is committed to providing
all residents of Lafayette and St. Mary Parishes with as much
information as possible regarding mosquitoes, their life
cycle, their habits, and elimination of breeding areas.
Many are unaware that they are breeding mosquitoes around their
home. Look at this
diagram of a yard. There many areas in every yard
the can breed mosquitoes. Examples are old tires, cans,
buckets, flower pots, rain barrels, and any item that can
hold water. This is commonly known as
source reduction.
By taking a few moments a week, you can do your part to stop mosquito breeding.
MCCI's Public Education Director, Michelle Boudreaux, has
presentations available for pre-schools, elementary
schools, senior citizens, clubs and organizations. These
presentations are given in Lafayette and St. Mary parishes.
Anyone interested in such a presentation or
have any questions, please contact Mrs. Boudreaux at
(337)593-0123 or (337) 365-6995 between the hours of 8AM and 4:30PM, Monday
- Friday.
